About Cornell University Residential Student Congress
The Residential Student Congress is a student government organization supported through the Office of Residential Programs. Each year, representatives from residential communities, usually demarcated by building, meet weekly to debate, discuss, and act on issues of importance to their community and the residential student population as a whole. These representatives are trained in and make decisions regarding Finance, Programming, Leadership and Advocacy as it involves residential students. Representatives have the opportunity to have a visible and significant effect on university life. The Residential Student Congress is also substantially involved in supporting hall councils on both local and cross campus level. Through mentorship, training, and experience, elected representatives stand as pillars of their communities and the residential community as a whole.
