About Corning Meals on Wheels
-MISSION STATEMENT- To nurture health, dignity and independent living among people who need meals delivered to their homes. WHO WE ARE, WHOM WE SERVE Corning Meals on Wheels Inc. is a nonprofit food service program that has been serving the home-bound, elderly and frail of the Greater Corning-Painted Post area since 1966. We supply 2/3 of the daily adult nutritional requirements to our clients Monday through Friday between @11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We can also make arrangements for drop-off of weekend meals. While most of our clients receive meals on a long term basis, many CMoW participants are “short-termers” who have been just released from the hospital and are recuperating from surgery , injury, or illness, needing only a week or two to get back on their feet. CMoW is for anyone who cannot procure nor prepare proper meals for themselves, nor have others within the household to do so for them. THE MENU Each client receives a hot meal consisting of an entrée & two vegetables. A cold light dinner bag is delivered at the same time containing: milk, juice, salad, bread, sandwich spread, fresh fruit, and occasionally dessert. We are able to accommodate some food allergies, however we serve far too many to be able to modify our offerings based on individual food preferences. THE COST We provide our home delivered meal service at cost to clients under the age of 60- which is $8.30/delivery (2 meals). There is no retail mark-up. Those aged 60 and over, are asked to contribute as much as they feel they can afford towards that $8.30. While these contributions are voluntary, please keep in mind our program relies heavily on the donations of “those who can afford” to make up for “those who cannot.” Be as generous as possible, remembering your confidential contribution is not only helping us to help you, but it is also helping others. We accept cash, checks, SNAP, and online payment through our website www.cmowheels.com.
