About Council Advancing Work-based Learning (CAWBL)
The Council Advancing Work-Based Learning (CAWBL) is an independent, nonpartisan organization stewarding Work-Based Learning (WBL) as a transdisciplinary field. It advances the policy, perception, and practice of WBL worldwide as part of a global public-benefit system. Work-Based Learning is not a pedagogy or a place. It is a field in its own right. It is the system through which knowledge is generated by contribution and recognized by communities, organizations, and societies. CAWBL holds the exclusive rights to WBLNS© and PathLedger®, the twin systems that make contributions recognized in context legible, transferable, and persistent. WBLNS© provides a global framework of identifiers and standards. PathLedger® provides the platform where individuals and organizations engage with that framework. Together they form the backbone of CAWBL’s global public infrastructure for Work-Based Learning. Our Praxis Hubs localize this framework across regions, connecting global standards with community and economic life. They ensure that Work-Based Learning is grounded in context while contributing to the shared global knowledge system. Our role is stewardship. We are not inventing the system. We are ensuring its visibility, interoperability, and continuity.
