CovenantMD is a Direct Primary Care practice. Our mission is to reinvigorate the patient/doctor relationship. Primary care has fallen on hard times these days. This is because our experience of primary care is dictated by health insurance. When insurance is paying for the less expensive, more common things, both patients and doctors lose control over the primary care experience. Patients typically wait days or weeks to get a brief appointment with the healthcare provider that knows them. They fear hidden costs, especially in this era of high-deductible insurance. And if something happens that requires care after hours, they must see yet another provider that doesn’t know them as well as their primary care provider. While we at CovenantMD believe that health insurance is important in the event of unexpected, high-cost care, we’re also asking a different question: What sort of primary care experience could we provide if our patients paid us directly for that care (not through an insurance middle-man), reserving their insurance for other things? At CovenantMD, our patients pay a low monthly fee. They get appointments when they need them without copays. They enjoy same- and next-day appointments, extended time with the doctor, and after hours availability. And because we are not subject to insurance contracts, we are able to negotiate low costs for lab prices. We also have an in-office pharmacy stocked with low-cost medications. And we guide our patients through self-pay options in our local healthcare market (such as x-rays for $44!) A quality healthcare experience. No middle men. We’re simplifying primary care!
