About Creating the Future

Creating the Future is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching people how to create systems change by changing the questions they ask. We are a collection of people around the world, supporting each other in efforts to create a more humane world. Our Mission: Experiment with systems change from the inside out, to ensure that the systems we all encounter are bringing out the best in people in any situation. The experiment: We all encounter systems every day –the habits, rituals, customs and rules that make up “just the way we do things.” The experiment at the heart of Creating the Future’s work is to see how much more humane the world could be if those systems were aimed at bringing out the best in people. This ten year experiment began January 1, 2017. To make it easy to share the kinds of questions that can change the world, our work is rooted in a set of practices called Catalytic Thinking. Our plan is therefore simple: 1) Experiment with organizational systems change ourselves, to learn and demonstrate what is possible. 2) Share what we learn from those experiments, in as many ways as possible - through structured education programs, convenings, demonstration projects, sharing stories - and any other way to spread the ripples of what is possible. Through those ripples, we know we will be creating as much kindness, health and resilience as possible in the world – a world that works for everyone.
