About Crisis Intervention of Houston
MISSION: TO HELP PEOPLE IN CRISIS Crisis Intervention of Houston, Inc. (CIH) is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization with the sole mission to help people in crisis. We operate free, confidential, anonymous hotlines including Crisis Hotline (713-HOTLINE), Spanish Hotline (713-47-AYUDA) and TeenLine (713-529-TEEN) 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We became a United Way Agency in 1979 and, along with phone counseling, offer numerous programs and services including "Survivors of Suicide" support groups, a teen internet chat service, a youth outreach program to prevent bullying and peer harassment, a collaboration with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and on-site crisis response teams. As we grow, Crisis Intervention continues to fulfill our mission by providing new programs and services that meet the needs of our callers including web-based counseling, a teen texting program, suicide prevention and intervention education, and much more.
