Cristo Rey Newark High School, formerly known as Christ the King Preparatory School, is a member of the Cristo Rey Network of 35 schools nationally, that provide a quality, Catholic, college preparatory education to urban young people who have limited economic resources and educational options. Located in Newark, New Jersey, Cristo Rey Newark welcomes students of all faiths and cultural heritages. Cristo Rey Newark promotes academic achievement, professionalism, and virtuous character through a challenging core curriculum and innovative work study program for the purposes of transforming society. By the time a Cristo Rey Newark High School student graduates, he/she will have more than 1,400 hours of professional work experience, in a corporate setting, which is provided by its 60+ Corporate Partners. This model of education helps to offset tuition costs. Cristo Rey Newark is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark and endorsed by The Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth and The Marist Brothers of the Schools.
