Service Providers don’t need to be ‘told’ what to do by an outside organisation. You already know your strengths and weaknesses. At CDCS we work collaboratively with organisations to address issues constructively in a way that encourages ownership of the solutions and reduces overwhelm. Over the years we have been working with aged care services we have recognised that there are five common problem areas that service providers face; this was particularly true for those organisations operating in rural and remote areas and those whose workforce or client base were from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The five big challenges are: 1. Compliance against standards and regulations. 2. Customer service - Engaging with consumers and meeting expectations. 3. Appropriate information and resources for staff and consumers; and a clear communication strategy (internal and external). 4. Relevant and appropriate training for staff and support for carers. 5. Governance – being strategic, effective and sustainable. To assist organisations in addressing these issues the CDCS team develops tools, resources and training programs that support quality care outcomes and alleviate frustrations experienced by management in taking their service forward. We believe that every person deserves quality care, to be treated with dignity, supported to maintain their independence and to have a say in the way that services and care are provided.
