About Cumbria Deaf Association
Cumbria Deaf Association is an independent charity that helps deaf people and their families living in Cumbria to achieve educational, physical, social and spiritual well-being. We provide BSL interpreters for events, appointments and special occassions e.g. weddings, christenings and even in the birthing suite when required! For businesses we can provide BSL interpretation of safety briefings, traning videos, activity information, workplace accessibility audits etc. We offer in-house deaf awareness training and introduction to BSL courses, helping improve communication with your customers. For the arts, culture and heritage sector we can provide event interpreters, whether it's for a panto at Christmas or a lakeside poetry festival, we can cover it all. We provide companionship and support out in the community with our team of community support workers, who help d/Deaf clients remain socially engaged and independent. Coming together to share experiences and keep informaed about the wider world is done through our community groups, managed by community coordinators. We believe in equality for deaf people and promote understanding and respect within the community.
