Curtis Wool Direct buys in excess of 50% of British wool sold through the British Wool Marketing Board. In addition, we are merchants of wool from Norway which is supplied directly by Nortura (a farmer co-operative) in Norway and Real Shetland wool from the Shetland Isles. We also have our buying operations New Zealand. We buy wool from virtually all wool growing nations around the world, including large quantities from Ireland and are able to supply greasy, scoured or combed wool. Continuous investment in early stage processing, including equipment, R&D in new techniques, applications and processes, continues to give wool supplied by Curtis Wool an advantage over its competitors. From our state of the art and most environmentally friendly wool scour in the world, Haworth Scouring Company has a capacity to scour in excess of 1,000,000kgs of wool per week. This allows for a quick turnaround from an order, to shipment and delivered to a customer quicker than anyone in the industry. A multi-million Pound investment in our combing plant, Haworth Combing in 2017, brought the only commercial combing plant in the UK into the 21st Century allowing us to produce a huge variety of tops and broken tops for both bulk and niche markets.
