Cut Edge Studios, a Community Channel company facility, has been involved in the production of Television Programmes, for over twenty years: • In 1989 initiated on M-Net, the first ethnic TV programme, dedicated to the Portuguese Community in South Africa. This programme was broadcast for 18 years transmitting 16 hours a week to 32 thousand subscribers. • In 1991, with the Jewish Community in mind, Shalom TV was launched on M-Net, which lasted for 5 years, transmitting two hours a week. • In 1995 produced Open Window series, for SABC 2. • In 2001, was responsible for the post-production of the Tony Sanderson’s Chuckle & Chat Show series, for SABC 1. • Since 2003 an on-going production of a 30 minute monthly magazine programme for RTP, transmitted worldwide. • In 2012 produced “Angola – Rebuilding of a Nation” a 40 minute documentary, commissioned by the Angola Government. • In 2013 produced and transmitted from its own TV studios, the first live broadcast for Southern Africa of the first electronic Continues Medical Education for SNOFI, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Cut Edge Studios has also been producing TV Commercials and Corporate Videos for various companies and well-known brands. Viriato Barreto, the producer responsible for the above, has been involved in the film and TV industry since 1966. He has directed two feature films; Hunter of the Wild in 1970, a Stewart Pringle production distributed worldwide by 20th Century Fox, and Knockout, the first South African feature film with all black cast, produced in 1972. Cut Edge Studios is a multimedia production house with a comprehensive filming, post-production and TV studios facilities for an all-in house production.
