The architectural practice of CYS Associates was founded by Kenneth T H Chau in 1982, amalgamating with practices of R H Yu and Associates (founded 1978) and David Shek and Associates (founded 1981). The firm became CYS Associates (Hong Kong) Ltd in 1987. CYS maintains an office with fully qualified architects, supported by teams of architectural assistants and a drafting section and full CAD facilities. There is also a Site Supervisory Team and an Interior Design Section. Since the commencement of its practice, CYS has successfully implemented a wide variety of project types of substantial volume. Completed buildings range from commercial complexes, offices and hotels; luxury apartment complexes and high density housing estates; schools and housing for institutional concerns; recreation and resort facilities; 'high-tech' industrial centres and flatted factories; renovation of office buildings as well as residential estates. The practice's philosophy emphasizes on design excellence, with sound and innovative technical back up, balancing economy and aesthetics. To date, CYS has received numerous design awards both locally in Hong Kong and the PRC nationwide. CYS has been named as one of the Top 10 Market Leaders in Architecture in Hong Kong by the BCI Asia Building & Construction Interchange for the years of 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
