About Daera
Daera is a lifestyle brand, based out of New Delhi, India. Through objects, art, and tangible topography Daera assimilates the scattered cultural history of temporary "Deras" or homes that only exist in memory. We create designs inspired by the past for the future; cultivated by the philosophy that we are the sum of all the journeys we have taken. We love to play with color, texture, and art. We consider our design sensibilities to be eclectic. We wouldn't place ourselves under a specific style or category, but rather take pride in being able to mix sensibilities from different thoughts of design - be it minimal, classical, art-deco or bohemian. Jannat Madhok, an alumna of the University of Southern California, started off as an Architecture student but gravitated towards the fine arts, and ended up with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts specializing in Graphic Design. Her tryst with Interior Design started while executing projects with celebrity interior designer, Maxime Jacquet in Los Angeles. Jannat had the opportunity to work on designing multiple celebrity homes including those belonging to David Guetta, Rhianna, and Beyonce among others. Since moving back to India, she has worked with JJ Valaya to launch Valaya Home, practiced art at Triveni Kala Sangam, and executed several interior design projects. Jannat's home was featured in Ideal Home and Garden Magazine's June 2017 issue. After spending 15 years in California, Sharon Sethi made the decision of relocating back to India in August 2016 to join Jannat in their new venture - Daera. With a degree in Fashion and Business from Academy of Art University and FIDM, Sharon brings her 7 years of experience in the creative industry. She has worked with Magazines, PR Agencies, Apparel companies and also as a Wardrobe Stylist for multiple celebrities in Hollywood. Together, the girls bring a fresh, new take to the interior design world, styling spaces like you've never seen before!
