About Danish Emergency Management Agency
The Danish Emergency Management Agency's (DEMA) mission is to ensure the community's robustness towards too the effects of accidents and disasters, and while avoiding damage to persons, property and the environment occurs. In this context the Agency carries a number of operational and regulatory duties and functions rendered to the Agency on emergency management and response. The Danish Emergency Management Agency heads the national emergency service, which consists of five national emergency centres with permanent employees, conscripts and volunteers, as well as a Volunteer Centre. The Emergency Centres can assist the local emergency services, the police and other authorities at larger or longer term instances in Denmark; where there is an eminent need for large manpower or special equipment. At the request of a State or an international organization, the Agency may also assist in natural or man-made disasters abroad. The Danish Emergency Management Agency offers a wide range of courses, at the DEMA Technical College, situated in the southern part of Jutland. The Danish Emergency Management Agency is an agency under the Danish Ministry of Defence.
