About Darkness Into Light UAE

Darkness Into Light UAE is a very special and unique initiative, one which endeavours to bring communities together in support of a very worthy cause; the mental well-being of those around us. We are a passionate team of volunteers, spanning across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah who willingly dedicate our free time to raising awareness for mental health, cultivating community support and identifying/providing accessible support for those suffering in darkness. This is achieved through pioneering community events and simultaneously introducing existing global initiatives into the United Arab Emirates. In 2015, we started as a simple team of 15 people in Abu Dhabi wanting to bring this beautiful event to the UAE for the first time. After two years of hard work, dedication and hope, 2017 witnessed the first official UAE Darkness into Light walk in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation. Since then, our initiative has grown significantly and is now operating nationally, 365 days of the year. We have expanded far beyond the organisation and delivery of a single annual event. We now strive to cultivate community support and identify/provide accessible and effective helping services to those suffering across the UAE, all year round. We have recognised the growing demand for accessible support services, and we will continue to work hard to meet the needs of our community. We are of the belief that if we can reach just one person and support their journey from a place of darkness and despair into one of light and hope, we have succeeded in our goal. However, we cannot do this alone. Darkness Into Light UAE will always be a community initiative led by the community and we need all of you to inspire the change that is so desperately needed so that those suffering can get the help they truly deserve.
