Since its creation in 1982, Daro Film Distribution has grown to become one of Europe’s leading independent television distribution companies. Founded by Pierre-André and Monique Rochat in 1982, Daro Film Distribution now represents more than 100 production companies from around the world and has a catalogue ranging from blockbuster theatrical films and action series, to TV movies, cartoons and documentaries. As Daro Film Distribution has grown, so has the scope of its distribution activities. Initially working mainly as a sales agent, the focus of the business shifted and became much more centred on all facets of the production and distribution process - development finance, co-production and deficit financing as well as pre and post production sales. The company has acquired rights for an extensive number of territories from such high-quality companies as Icon Entertainment, Summit Entertainment, Intermedia, Morgan Creek, HanWay Films, Portman, Pathé, Gaumont, Lionsgate. Industry Releasing, Odyssey Media and Sierra Engine. Based in Monaco, Daro Film Distribution employs a dedicated staff of 16 who specialise in all aspects of marketing and distribution. The sales executives attend all the world’s major television and film festivals and markets: MipTV, MipCOM, NATPE, Discop East, Cannes Film Festival, AFM, L.A. Screenings, Hong Kong Filmart and the Southern African Film and TV Market, amongst others. They travel frequently to visit their clients around the world preferring to work directly with broadcasters. They always endeavour to get first hand information of the clients’ needs as well as expert knowledge of each specific market. It is this expertise and efficient administration, which are the keys to distribution success in this rapidly evolving business.
