About Dart Centre Asia Pacific
All journalistic work involves some degree of risk of exposure to potentially traumatic events. The mission of Dart Centre Asia Pacific (DCAP) is to advocate for the ethical and thorough reporting of trauma and the compassionate and professional treatment of victims and survivors by journalists, while also promoting greater awareness by media organisations of the impact of trauma coverage on both news professionals and news consumers. DCAP offers a range of educational, training and consultation services to news and media organisations and journalism-related nonprofits worldwide. Developed in collaboration with leading trauma experts and news professionals, DCAP trainings are available on a range of topics including: • Trauma-aware reporting on vulnerable individuals and communities • Self-care and resilience for trauma-exposed news professionals • Leadership strategies and duty of care • Handling graphic imagery • Planning for mass-casualty coverage • Peer support for news organisations • Managing online abuse and threat • Recognising and managing vicarious trauma As an affiliate of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, DCAP is a collaboration of journalists, researchers and health professionals who ensure that you receive the most contemporary, evidence-based content and training informed by journalism practice, culture and understanding. The Dart Center have provided training to media organisations worldwide, including the Associate Press (USA), the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (Australia), the British Broadcasting Corporation (UK), the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Canada), the NBC (USA), the National Union of Journalists (Phillipines), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), the Rory Peck Trust (UK), Rappler (Phillipines), the SBS (Australia), The Wall Street Journal (USA), The Los Angeles Times (USA), The Age (Australia), and ProPublica (USA), among many others.
