About DashDashDot
Our story began in 1963, with the creation of a lighting company which specialised in metal housings and polycarbonate diffusers. This family-run business was later handed over to the 2nd generation in 1984, who transformed the business into a renowned international lighting company. The 3rd generation joined the business later, focused on bespoke lighting design, a new market for the business. In 2024, based upon the experience and knowledge from the bespoke market, the 3rd generation decided to launch a new design focused lighting studio with an up and coming designer – DashDashDot. Our name represents through morse code, the fundamental form of light – a photon. Light has long be used a means of communication, including as a visual form of morse code. In morse code ‘dash-dash-dot’ represents the Greek letter gamma, which is used in scientific notation to represent a photon.
