About De Nieuwe Mensa

De Nieuwe Mensa is a collaborative project between students and student organisations at the University of Amsterdam. We are a non-profit foundation, completely run by students, operating at the UvA canteen. We cook fully plant-based meals with local produce, and serve them daily for a student-friendly price. We are AFFORDABLE: We believe that students should be able to afford food on campus. Better food makes better studying! We are a non-profit foundation, prioritizing student needs and making fulfilling meals accessible on campus. SUSTAINABLE: All our food is plant-based. We work with 100% local produce to make sure that our footprint is as low as possible, working towards a better future for everyone. STUDENT-LED: The entire foundation is run by students, and so are the cooks and the servers. This allows us to have a say about food on campus, and we value student feedback and ideas. We are also democratic, as connected with the main student representative bodies. TASTY: We have a daily-changing menu, and we strive to offer good and healthy food that makes everyone happy. We don't stick to a particular cuisine, and are receptive of feedback and suggestions. We are open daily in the Roeterseiland Canteen of the University of Amsterdam, from 12 to 18. Come have a bite!
