Developmental Educators are qualified disability professionals dedicated to fostering empowerment, social inclusion and quality of life for people with disability and their families. Developmental Educators Australia Inc (DEAI) is the professional association representing the unique, diverse and dynamic profession of Developmental Education. Developmental Educators are multi-disciplinary disability professionals, having completed a professional practice degree in disability studies. As qualified disability professionals, Developmental Educators, also known as DE’s, occupy roles in a variety of disability, human service, mental health, and educational settings, in the State and Federal Government, and non-government sectors.
