About Deaf Champions

Deaf Champions provides resources in support of Deaf / Hard-of-Hearing / Non-Verbal children and their families, friends, care-givers and educators. Here you'll find stories, news articles and additional blog posts. We began our journey over 20 years ago when I found out that my daughter was deaf; she is about to graduate from university and has been my inspiration and at the heart of this journey. I searched for years to find good books and resources for her and her friends. I taught sign language to toddlers and preschoolers for over 10 years before deciding it was time to create a fun, easy, instructive and interactive way for teachers and parents to teach SEE (Sign Exact English) to hearing and non-hearing children. Thus Emma and Egor were born. Recently, the path broadened when the Emma and Egor books and basic flashcards were introduced to a few pilot schools. The change in the children's behavior and communication skills was incredibly positive. We've expanded our vision to children outside the deaf/HOH community as parents and teachers want the best for all of the children in their care. Emma and Egor www.emmaandegor.com is expanding, adding curriculum, learning tools and teaching guides to supplement the books and make signing easy to teach and easy to learn. Stacy Eldred resides in Northern Virginia and had been developing her sign language skills for 21 years. Her passion is educating and nurturing the minds of children all over the world. It is her goal to reach as many children and educators as possible through Emma and Egor.
