Our spalted maple is a luxury wood surface to be used in any special design products. We work closely with local suppliers and sawmills to source our spalted maple from carefully managed and sustainably harvested forests. We believe in preserving the natural beauty of spalted maple for future generations to enjoy while minimizing our environmental impact. Spalting is a portal into the hidden life of fungi; the lines and colors we see in spalting are a 2-dimensional slice of a 3-dimensional world of competing fungal empires. This process has taken place for eons, but is just now available in the design market in the volume, quality, and lengths at Deep Greene Woodworks. Our spalted maple is top quality, available in lengths up to 10 feet and is always kept in a sequential flitch to allow true continuity across the piece you are creating.
