About Delaware Valley Poetry Festival
The annual Delaware Valley Poetry Festival, centered in Frenchtown N.J., was founded in 1998 and was formerly directed by journalist and novelist Nicholas DiGiovanni who has handed the reins to Dodge Poet Skye Van Saun, in partnership with the River Union Stage. The Festival has had such distinguished poets as former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, Pulitzer Prize winners Paul Muldoon, Philip Schultz, Louise Gluck and Rita Dove (the latter two also former U.S. poet laureates), National Book Award winner Gerald Stern, and award-winning poets Thomas Lux, Maria Mazziotti Gillan, Stephen Dobyns and Diane Wakoski along with many regional and New Jersey poets who give free public readings from their works. The Festival is held each autumn.
