Odyssean Records is a Music & Film Production Studio from the Greater Los Angeles Area. Pioneering a new genre in audio / visual storytelling called the ‘Cinematic Sonata.’ The concept is older than the term. Silly Symphonies, a series of 75 animated short films, produced by Walt Disney Productions from 1929-1939. “As their name implies, the ‘Silly Symphonies’ were originally intended as whimsical accompaniments to pieces of music.” (Wiki) The very first edition was ‘The Skeliton Dance (August 22 1929). As technology advanced, the plots, characters and animation techniques became more innovative. These were a separate entity from the Mickey Mouse series. However, it is where Donald Duck first appeared in 1934. Silly Symphonies were such a success, many imitators followed. Most notably Warner Bros. ‘Looney Tunes’ and ‘Merry Melodies.’ Though conceptually similar, our films are not animated or silly. The closest example of a Cinematic Symphony is most likely the ‘Blue Danube’ sequence in Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey.’
