Responsibilities and achievements included: • Seed sales and branded/market development in all major Latin American markets. • Creating the sales brand and packaging for domestic and export sales. • Establishing local Agents/Importers to represent my clients and coordinating/ supervising all sales activities including multiple new variety field trials (extension service). . • Increased sales and created new sales in all Central America countries and in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil through the success of the field trials and services provided. 11/2002 – 03/2004 Technical Advisor Agri-business Consultant (USAID) Agriculture Led Export Businesses(ALEB)-Project/Abt Assoc. Cairo, Egypt For this USAID-funded agribusiness project in Egypt, on a series of temporary assignments over two (2) years, responsibilities and achievements included: • Streamlining - modernizing procedures for importing seeds for field-testing • Teaching Egyptian food processors to improve export product quality by planting improved varieties to begin the whole production process – artichokes, asparagus, green beans for canning, peas for canning, onions for dehydration, broccoli, carrot and cauliflower for freezing, cucumbers for pickling, and tomatoes for processing (tomato paste). • Working with Egyptian farmers to improve the pre-plant preparations and planning so that the crops would be easier to handle at harvest and less contaminated with dirt and field debris. • Linking Egyptian farmers, food processors, and EEC food importers to establish sales channels for the improved Egyptian food products. • At the project’s end my efforts contributed to an overall 10% increase in processed food exports from Egypt – that met EEC food safety standards.
