JMG is a government agency that has the authority and expertise to lead the investigation, services and research in the field of mineral and geoscience in the country. This is done through the acquisition, interpretation, management and distribution data and minerals and geoscience information. Knowledge, data and minerals and geoscience information can be used to solve problems, help improve the well-being of society, and contribute to the socio-economic development and preservation of the environment and disaster risk management. JMG committed to conducting mineral exploration to increase mineral inventory of state, mineral commodity profile analysis and strategic planning to address current challenges. JMG also responsible for ensuring the quarrying and mining activities are carried out in an orderly and safe and comply with the laws that have been established. JMG also conduct research and development (R & D) in the mineral sector to develop the country's mineral industry. JMG also committed in the survey and geoscience services expertise covers the areas of geological mapping, underground water resources, engineering geology, geological disasters, environmental geology, marine geology, geophysics, remote sensing, mineralogy, petrology and other areas of geosciences.
