The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports (NEXS) engages in research, education, innovation and knowledge dissemination within the areas of nutrition, human physiology and sports at the highest international level, covering disciplines related to the health sciences, humanities and social sciences. The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports’ core areas concern themselves with how healthy people – throughout their lives – can preserve their health and increase their quality of life and optimise their mental and physical performance through the benefits afforded by what they eat, by physical activity and by sports. The department conducts research and offers study programmes which look at how to create the best possible conditions for exercise and nutrition for physical and psychosocial human well-being. The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports also works with nutrition, meals, exercise and sports as a tool for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the most common disorders in society. The purpose is for the department to be established as the leading institution in Denmark when it comes to the development and dissemination of knowledge about sports, physical activity and nutrition.
