About Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies

Desi Rainbow Parents and Allies seeks to improve the lives of South Asian diasporic lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ people, and their parents and families by providing support, education, and advocacy. We advocate for community wide acceptance of LGBTQ+ people by being proud and visible, by telling our stories, and by building relationships with stakeholders including community, faith based organizations, and educational and political institutions. We provide support by hosting monthly peer-to-peer support groups. Currently, we offer a support group for LGBTQ+ Folks and one for the parents and families of LGBTQ+ Folks. We also host a monthly Allyship Group where we discuss and build a plan of action around being an Active Ally. All these groups are virtual. We work on building LGBTQ+ educational resources, in various languages including English.
