About Designers against AIDS

Designers Against AIDS (DAA) is a non-profit organization that strives to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among young people worldwide making use of all elements from the pop culture such as music, art, fashion, social media, celebrities, photography, sports and film. DAAʼs most recent and ambitious project is an International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center (IHAEC) in Antwerp, Belgium. The training center hosts volunteers from all over the world teaching them how to set up effective and creative HIV prevention and awareness campaigns using the pop culture methodology DAA stands for. Participants will be taking this knowledge home to build up equally successful campaigns to their country of origin, sharing their knowledge and experiences among their peers. It is our aim to open a second training center in Los Angeles, USA within two years. Opening a second center will not only give us the opportunity to share our methodology with a wider audience, it will enable us to work in a country where HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns are very much needed and where we feel the use of the pop culture method is beneficial and effective.
