Deželna banka Slovenije d.d. is the Bank's new name in force since 1 July 2004, when Slovenska zadružna kmetijska banka d.d. acquired assets and liabilities of Zveza hranilno kreditnih služb Slovenije p.o. (Association of Savings and Loan Undertakings of Slovenia) and changed its name into Deželna banka Slovenije d.d. Deželna banka Slovenije d.d. has a rich tradition since its predecessor, Slovenska zadružna kmetijska banka d.d., was established as early as in 1990 with a mission to complement the financial system in the field of agriculture, cooperatives and agro-food processing industry and, acting as an upgrade of the cooperative agricultural savings associations, to revive the tradition of effective and safe agricultural and cooperative financial institutions that existed in Slovenia before World War II. The acquisition of assets and liabilities of the Association of Savings and Loan Undertakings in 2004 resulted in a merger of interests of the two financial institutions that acted synergistically already before that date within the agricultural sector. In this way, DBS d.d. became a still larger and stronger financial institution. With its network of 76 branches spread throughout the country, the Bank provides its clients with safe, profitable, easily accessible and flexible banking services.
