Atlas Fund, Ltd., a long-biased equity fund, has employed extensive, detailed fundamental analysis to select portfolio equity securities since its inception in January 1994. The fund seeks to find the most attractive growth companies at reasonable prices, within selected industry sectors. Potential investment candidates must exhibit attractive fundamental characteristics including “free cash flow,” growth in cash earnings per share, financial ratios, product innovation, and quality and integrity of management. One of the two equity analysts monitors each equity holding in the portfolio after selection for purchase. Industry concentrations are determined based on prudence and adjusted for appropriate weighting. Portfolio risk management is achieved by use of listed equity and index options, short sales, and managing gross exposure.
