About DFW Fibromyalgia Support Group

ABOUT THIS GROUP The DFW Fibromyalgia Support Group is transitioning from a peer-led support group to a more evidence based interpersonal process group in which members support each other under the guidance of clinically trained group facilitator, Margaret B. Schroeder. As a founding member of the DFW Fibromyalgia Support Group, Ms. Schroeder is deeply committed to the advocacy and support of people with chronic pain. This group was instrumental in her recovery from chronic illness and inspired her to pursue a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling so she could expand her efforts to help our population. As of January 2021, Ms. Schroeder is now a counselor intern under the supervision of Dr. Candace Chuyou-Campbell, LPC-S, RPT-S. When she graduates, Ms. Schroeder will be over 50 and embarking upon her third career, proving to herself and the world that recovery is possible. WHO THIS GROUP IS FOR We serve people who are suffering with the daily struggles of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and are looking for support in a therapeutic group setting. Members must be willing to meet with each other to discuss their lived experience with fibromyalgia. Many of our members have multiple conditions with overlapping symptoms, making differential diagnosis difficult, however all of our members have been told by a medical practitioner that they have fibromyalgia.
