About Dialyfix
More than 2 million patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD) need hemodialysis (HD) for treatment. Currently, the preferred vascular access method for HD is the arteriovenous fistula (AVF). However, the AVF is the cause of several complications: 30%-60% non-maturation rate, stenosis, thrombosis, infections; 30% of HD patients are hospitalized following post-procedural AVF complications including AVF failure. Health care expenditure related to ESRD: more than 34 billion USD in the United States alone, a significant portion of this expense being related to HD and to creation and maintenance of AVFs. Dialyfix® is a MedTech startup that develops innovative implantable medical devices that will eliminate the need for arteriovenous fistulas in vascular access for hemodialysis. REFERENCES 1.
