About Digital Inquiry Group
The Digital Inquiry Group (DIG for short) is an independent nonprofit organization established by the team behind the Stanford History Education Group (SHEG). Founded by Sam Wineburg in 2002, SHEG became one of the nation’s leading providers of free curriculum in the social studies. DIG spun out of Stanford to be able to act with greater agility and have an even greater impact. Today, our history curriculum and our digital literacy materials have over 15 million downloads and are used in all 50 states and around the globe. Our recent work focuses on preparing young people to be more discerning consumers of the information they encounter online. Through our research, classroom materials, and professional development, we seek to empower learners to make sense of the past and present.
