About Disability Alliance BC

Disability Alliance BC/DABC is a provincial not-for-profit organization in British Columbia, Canada. Our mandate is to support people with all disabilities to live with dignity, independence and as equal and full participants in the community. We champion issues impacting the lives of people with disabilities through our direct services, community partnerships, advocacy, research and publications. Our activities include: * Assistance accessing income supports and other benefits for people with disabilities *Assistance accessing the Disability Tax Credit and Registered Disability Savings Plan * Matching wheelchair users with accessible housing * Programs and projects that respond to community need * Workshops and training that build community capacity * Year round income tax filing for multiple years for people with disabilities * Self-help guides and public legal education guides for advocates and the general public * Working with a broad range of stakeholders to promote programs and services for people with disabilities * Working to improve the lives of people with disabilities DABC members and clients are people from all communities. We serve and support: families who need income supports and health services; people who need assistive devices; wheelchair users seeking accessible housing; people with invisible disabilities; people with disabilities who choose to leave the George Pearson Centre and live in their communities.
