About Discovery Village

At Discovery Village classic and contemporary research and experience on early childhood learning come alive, translated into our playful approach. We are a high quality daycare and preschool, serving children from 6 weeks to five years old. Partnering with families, we embrace children in caring relationships, while engaging them in impactful experiential learning, creativity, and discovery. With guidance from their teachers, children at Discovery Village transform their classrooms into places in a village. These can be real or imaginary. Possibilities are endless! Classrooms can be designed as homes, restaurants, science labs, zoos, rocket ships, and more; anything our children are interested in. While playful, the approach is grounded in experiential learning and project-based learning theory and research. It is a unique adaptation of “Reggio-inspired” learning, an approach emphasizing experiential learning driven by student interest in a relationship-driven environment. Learning in all subject areas at Discovery Village is carefully integrated into the experience of designing and living in our village places. This includes age-appropriate learning in the areas of speaking and listening, reading and writing, math and engineering, science and social studies, the arts and physical education, and social-emotional as well as character skill building.
