About Disengineering Society

The Disengineering Society is a hardware hacking collective and a publisher of educational materials. We take apart old electronics, rebuild them weirder and cooler, and make zines that explain exactly how we did it. Our “textbooks” reimagine educational literature through their unique formats and go hand-in-hand with our widely offered workshops. As a participant in a Disegnineering workshop, you can expect flying sparks, electronic screeches, scribbled circuit diagrams, and your relationship with technology to be fundamentally challenged. Rooted in very real engineering education, the Disengineering Society is committed to combatting “planned obsolescence” in modern technology, and advocating for “Right-to-Repair”.
