Diversified Invested Student Securities (DISS) Capital is a student-run investment fund operating with a $1,000,000 virtual capital base in a sector-neutral portfolio that is benchmarked against the S&P 500 index. Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of investment professionals by providing hands-on experience in the financial markets. At the heart of our investment philosophy lies a dual approach of long and short positions, enabling us to navigate through diverse market conditions with agility and insight. Our strategy is built on rigorous analysis, leveraging both fundamental and technical research to uncover undervalued assets and identify overvalued opportunities for shorting. We believe in a disciplined investment process, focusing on long-term value creation to outperform our benchmark. Our fund is powered by a dedicated team of Investment Analysts, Associates, Sectors Leaders, and Portfolio Managers, each acting as a filter between converting investment ideas to trades. Beyond aiming for financial performance, DISS serves as a platform for real-world education in investment management. We bridge theory with practice, preparing new members as ‘Fundamental Analysts’ through a rigorous 10-week investing curriculum taught by the Portfolio Managers. Members who demonstrate an innate work-ethic and desire to learn get promoted to be an Investment Analyst in the Investment Fund. Through our program, students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the recruiting process and beyond. Many of our members have gone on to secure competitive internships and full-time roles at leading investment banks, private equity firms, and other top financial institutions.
