About Distilled Events
Distilled events specialise in high quality whisky and gin tasting and masterclass events for private or corporate occasions. Our experience in drinks retail, marketing, independent whisky bottling all the way through to malt whisky distillery management sets us apart from our competitors. We regularly host Guided Distillery Experiences, particularly on the Isle of Islay in Scotland, the whisky capital of the world boasting no less than 8 distilleries. We arrange trips to Islay for between 3 to 7 days for groups of guests wishing to enjoy the full island experience, joining tours and masterclasses at each distillery. David and Leonie Wood began their careers in the drinks industry with First Quench (Thresher Group) in the mid 1990s. In 2003 they purchased an independent wine and whisky retail outlet and quickly grew their reputation locally and further afield through the launch of their own brand Speyside single malt whisky quickly followed by a range of rare single cask single malt whiskies under the Queen of the Moorlands Rare Cask label. in 2012 dreams came true when David was asked to move to Islay to work at the iconic Lagavulin and Caol Ila distilleries to manage the busy visitor centre experience. The wine and whisky retail business was sold and Leonie soon followed David to Islay where she became Visitor Centre and Marketing Manager at Kilchoman Distillery. More dreams came true in 2013 when David was asked to apply for the role of Distillery Manager at his all time favourite distillery, Caol Ila, and in October 2013 he was appointed to that role. He enjoyed this role greatly and gained a huge amount of experience from it. In 2016 he decided to take advantage of his experience and to set up Distilled Events, spreading the word of Islay, Islay whisky, Scotch whisky and gin far and wide.
