In spring of 1980, Jacques Amiel, a 20-year veteran sales executive for Zenith Corporation with a finger on the pulse of the Canadian market, recognized what the burgeoning appliance market needed the most: a full service high end appliance distributor with a dedicated sales team, brand and product marketing support and complete after sale service and warranty management. 35 years later, the company that once was Amiel Distribution Ltd is now called Distinctive. We changed our name to express even more our founding mission: to make the appliances we use every day in our homes inspiring and dynamic; to always be innovative and trend-setting for the North American appliance market; to be Distinctive. Striving to fulfill our founding mission has been the key factor in making Distinctive one of the most influential and successful distributors in the premium home appliance industry, and the largest independent distributor in Canada.
