About Distributed Energy Futures

The transition to a low carbon economy relies heavily on electricity to power many of our uses of energy from renewable sources. To make this possible, drastic shifts are needed in how we generate, transport, use and trade electricity. These shifts are creating a ‘perfect storm’ of change, uncertainty and risk - but also many opportunities - for actors in the electricity value chain. In the eye of the storm is a move from centralisation to a more distributed model. Distributed Energy Futures was set up to help these actors navigate this ‘perfect storm’ by enabling rational, actionable decisions in the face of uncertain and unfamiliar factors. Our founders Adrian Cook, David Stansell and Nick Fryars are highly experienced management consultants with over twenty years experience each in structuring and driving complex change. Apart from the energy sector, their experience covers many capital-intensive sectors that have gone through dramatic changes, including telecommunications, IT and transport. We have a broad skillset including scenario planning, strategy formulation, financial forecasting and business planning, as well as set-up, steering and review of complex change programmes. Our network includes many actors at the forefront of development, use and support of distributed energy technologies.
