The Diverse Coat Society (DCS) was founded July 2, 2022, in Greenville, MS the Heart of the Mississippi Delta. Mission The DCS is a society of diverse educators (e.g., primary, middle, secondary, and higher education) and healthcare professionals (e.g., physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, medical laboratory technicians, social workers, and other allied healthcare professionals) coming together to provide conversations, activities, and support for interprofessional goals leading to educational equity, health equity, and general public safety. Vision Everyone will have access to equitable education and healthcare services with improved outcomes. See the DCS Model and Factions. Purpose Intersectionality and Black Coat Conversations (BCC) are at the core of the group’s purpose. The goal of the society is to spread our purpose through visibility and professional association. The logo is symbolic of our interprofessional roles as we wear different coats in society that will intersect to reach educational equity and health equity. In this professional association, you have the option to wear whatever color coat you want. Historically, the color is white. The foundational color of this group is black.
