Donald Hunter Architects is an Ayrshire based chartered architecture and design practice formed by chartered architect Donald Hunter. Based at 53a Beresford Terrace in Ayr, we undertake projects across Scotland with Donald having experience working across the Inner Hebridean islands of Tiree, Mull and Iona. At Donald Hunter Architects our aim is to deliver architecture that is specific to its context and improves the lives of the people who use it, whether that’s where they live, work or socialise, regardless of scale or budget. To achieve this we can offer a partial or full architectural service with a personal approach tailored to suit the client’s needs on a wide range of projects, with experience of commercial, residential and conservation projects in both rural and urban contexts. We begin every project by working closely with our clients to form a brief that meets their needs, budget and responds to the demands of the site. We then use a variety of hand sketches, 2D drawings and 3D models to convey our ideas allowing the client to get clear idea of how their finished project will look. Our experience also includes time spent working on site with contractors in some exposed and challenging locations which we believe gives us a better understanding of the practical side of construction. We enjoy working together with other members of the design team to develop our projects with a focus on getting the best solution that meets the design intent but also stays within budget. In addition to our own projects, we regularly collaborate with other practices to provide specialist services on larger scale projects.
