About Doors to Dream

Doors to Dream is a Charleston, South Carolina-based non-profit that inspires underserved youth to pursue their dreams through student-led service projects, educational programs, and support networks that lead to more equitable and sustainable opportunities for success. Doors to Dream envisions one whole and unified Charleston able to overcome the racial and economic barriers that exist in our city and bring healing and connectedness to our citizens. Currently, Doors to Dream is in invested in two high schools, Burke and North Charleston, and their feeder middle schools, Simmons-Pinckney and Morningside respectively, to provide consistent mentorship for students from sixth grade until they graduate. Doors to Dream is actively building relationships with students, their families, and school administration to understand and appropriately create methods and models to bring about lasting change. Within its current focus, Doors To Dream is developing a mentorship program and volunteer opportunities for students to give back through service projects and mentorship. Doors To Dream is dedicated to providing a safe space for at-risk youth to foster relationships with consistent mentors, learn life skills, and promote an increased sense of agency and worth. Doors to Dream is committed to empowering youth to be a voice for change. Doors to Dream was established in 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina. In its first three years, Doors to Dream has impacted 70 students through its leadership and service-focused mentorship. In working with the students, over 3,000 people have felt the ripple effect of our students’ stewardship to their neighbors and community as they attempt to make their city a better place. Inspired by these children's stories, Doors to Dream discovered new opportunities to partner with the Charleston community.
