Doppelhaus merge design and technological innovation to create ecological solutions that can accelerate the fashion industry’s transition to sustainability. The fashion industry has to change dramatically by 2050. Over 66% of fashion companies now have sustainability goals and pressure is mounting from consumers and incoming legislation to go green. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries: Only 1% of clothing is currently recycled, most fashion textiles end up in landfill. Mass market fashion currently relies on cheap, oil-based synthetic fibres (which are not biodegradable) and overseas textile manufacturing to maintain low production costs. There are few affordable, sustainable materials available. One of the easiest ways for fashion chains to become more sustainable without disrupting their business model is to substitute materials. Doppelhaus take advantage of cost-efficient nonwoven textile manufacturing technologies to create innovative, affordable, natural fibre-based textiles that can replace cheap synthetic fibre textiles in common fashion garments. Doppelhaus’ textiles are produced locally in Europe using local raw materials. They are biodegradable and low-impact throughout their entire life-cycle, helping fashion companies meet the targets set by their board, and offer their consumers greener products.
