Dove Cottage was founded in 1996 and provides hospice day care within the local community. Based in Stathern near Melton Mowbray we care for up to 100 families each week across NE Leicestershire, SW Lincolnshire, and SE Nottinghamshire. We offer high quality palliative care to people with any palliative diagnosis and offer a dementia and bereavement outreach service. We have a particular focus on wellbeing and therapy sessions for guests and their carers and offer tailormade support unique to each situation. The services we offer are completely free to attend. We offer nursing care, emotional support, therapeutic treatments, wellbeing activities, games, crafts, refreshments, diversional therapies, provide information and a home cooked lunch. Through such activities we hope to maximise self-reliance, minimise dependency and promote confidence and self-esteem. We provide complete support to include valuable respite care, to support families and ensure that the needs of the guest and their families are met to the highest possible level. Dove Cottage has a homely and peaceful atmosphere. Our purpose built premises include a lounge, dining room, complementary therapy room & bathroom as well as lovely gardens with magnificent views over open countryside. We rely on the support of our local community and businesses to support our vital services .It costs over £700,000 to run Dove Cottage Day Hospice each year with only 4% government support.
