Sheri Downer and her sister founded the company Downers in 1991 with the aim of creating and manufacturing bespoke handmade curtains, blinds, and soft furnishings of exceptional quality for London’s leading interior designers and architects. Blending traditional craftsmanship, technical expertise, and an innovative approach with meticulous attention to detail and flawless execution, Downers has become one of London’s specialists in unique and luxurious window treatments. The company’s highly skilled team of seamstresses and technicians share a knowledge of unusual and specialist techniques that enables them to work with a wide range of textiles: from wool and silk to hand-painted or exquisitely embroidered fabrics, to intricate beadwork, suede, and leather. Collaborative, creative and always solution-driven, Downers has produced classic, contemporary, and minimal window treatments for the most demanding interiors, including motorised systems for fully automated homes. Much like couture, Downers also creates unconventional, bespoke pieces which require a specialist approach. All treatments are hand-finished, some are entirely hand-sewn, and produced in-house, in Downers London-based work room. Committed to bringing each client’s vision to reality, Downers’ technical expertise is matched only by its service with each project overseen at every step, from initial brief to installation, by a dedicated client manager.
