Downton Distillery is an international award-winning micro-distillery located on the Domaine Hugo Vineyards on the Wiltshire Downs. Authentic in our approach, we take pride in our provenance and craftsmanship. We are not afraid to innovate and are passionate in how we craft our spirits. ‘Explorer’s Gin’ our flagship was inspired by local legend Sir Walter Raleigh. In 1584 Raleigh was awarded a Royal Warrant to venture forth and discover the ‘New World’. Unfortunately, gold was not found but he bought back tobacco, potatoes and cedar which forms a key component within the spirit’s profile. Conservation and sustainability are at the heart of our business. We created Great Bustard Gin to raise awareness and support the Great Bustard Conservation group whose Patron is King Charles III. We believe in being ethical and creating quality produce in a responsible way. All our products use local produce and recycled glass bottles, corks and labels. Certified by ‘Green Small Business’ and the ethically credited by the ‘Good Shopping Guide’, we have mapped our Carbon footprint and are working on being both carbon and plastic neutral. We invest in green initiatives every month, including carbon capture, rewilding juniper and environmental Gold Standard activities through Eco Tree, Ecologi and Climeworks. To date 2024, we saved over 5mT of glass through our popular refill scheme, which continues to grow. The distillery has proudly won several national and international industry awards for its spirits and recently has been awarded the ‘Wiltshire Life Awards 2023 for Sustainability’ and the Gin Guide ‘Sustainability Award 2023.’ For private tours, talks & cocktail events contact: info@downtondistillery.com
