Cameron (Dr. Cam) Caswell, PhD, the “teen translator,” is an adolescent psychologist, family success coach, and host of the podcast “Parenting Teens with Dr. Cam.” She is on a mission to help parents and educators build strong, positive relationships with their teens and student through improved communication, connection, and understanding. She believes that teens act out because they feel misunderstood. And teens feel misunderstood because they ARE misunderstood. As a society, it seems we've resigned ourselves to the belief that teens are flat-out difficult. Dr. Cam challenges this belief and helps adults understand that teens don't need to be fixed—in fact, they are perfectly wired for healthy development. What does need to be fixed is the way we translate their behaviors and actions. If more parents and educators had access to this information and learned how to apply it, they would realize that connecting with teens doesn’t have to be nearly as difficult as most of us make it. In her fun, interactive style, Dr. Cam unpacks frustrating adolescent behavior and empowers her clients and audiences to work with teen wiring rather than against it—boosting the development of a positive, healthy sense of self rather than unwittingly eroding it. She leaves her audiences feeling hopeful, inspired, and motivated for change. Dr. Cam is the mom of a teen too, so she not only talks the talk, she walks the walk!
