About Dr Nicole Phillips (Pty)

I'm an academic research empowerment and dissertation coach. I provide postgraduate students and researchers with the skills and support they need to excel at writing their research thesis. You can do this without having to sacrifice your mental health. I help postgraduate students and researchers from anywhere in the world navigate the research process and write their dissertation in a way that is conducive to learning and supportive of their mental health. I am passionate about research and issues around transformation and strive to be as inclusive as possible in my coaching work. I believe that everyone deserves to have access to high-quality academic support, regardless of their background or circumstances. In my coaching work, I focus on helping students/researchers develop high value research skills, produce clear and concise academic writing, and manage their time effectively by breaking down and prioritising specific and individual research tasks. I also provide support for students who are experiencing challenges with the very real mental health aspect of completing postgraduate academic studies – an area which is often overlooked. I have more than 13 years of experience in health science research and academic writing and publishing. With a PhD in Neuroscience (Psychiatry) from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa, my vision is to create a space where mental health is a priority. I have also supervised 20 plus postgraduate students to date, all of whom passed their thesis the first time around. So I know a thing or two about getting students to the finish line.
